BMI is generally used to define and categorise obesity.
According to WHO a person with BMI of 30 or more is considered to be obese.
Obesity is much higher in Urban India than in rural India. And obesity is more prevalent in women of urban India.
What causes it?
Obesity can be caused due to a combination of factors ranging from genetics to medication but two of the most prominent cause of obesity are sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits.

Obesity can affect your health in various ways. From various cardiovascular diseases such as Coronary heart disease, Cerebrovascular disease to various metabolic disease, diabetes being one of them.
Increased weight is also linked to increased risk of hypertension.

This support group is for anyone who wants to lose weight but finds it difficult to do so.
We like to work with individuals who are on the extreme end of obesity and find losing weight to be extremely difficult.
The support group will have eight sessions, one each week. The entire course will run for a period of two months.
Various doubts and myths related to weight loss will be addressed.
We will also help you understand the physiological as well as the psychological mechanism of weight loss.
