“It’s not about being optimistic or pessimistic it’s about acknowledging everything in the picture.”
On a Saturday morning, I received a call from an old school friend of mine telling me that a friend of ours was no more. She had committed suicide by jumping off of her office building. Once I came out of the shock, I started throwing questions at him "How? Why?" All I could remember at that moment was her ever-smiling face and the way she would run towards me hugging me every time she saw me.
It has been almost 8 years since that day and it’s still a mystery for all of us including her family. To this date, whenever her name pops up we all have a confused-sad expression on our faces.
I still have some of her pictures with me to remind myself what not to do in life however tough it gets.
Some people do think suicide is the best way out of any difficulty in life. The only flaw here is they don’t see the bigger picture. Each and every problem does come with a solution. It’s just how we see it. Taking a step back and looking at the big picture will give you a solution to every possible problem.
All I wish is if my friend could’ve seen the bigger picture here maybe that would’ve saved her.
Not really!
Some of them are just tired of Pretending; pretending to be happy, pretending to be strong, pretending to be all right.
Impulsivity in adolescents is another reason for the increasing suicide rates. They see a small black dot and forget about THE WHOLE WHITE CANVAS.
The increase in suicide rates is becoming a concern these days. What exactly is the reason?
Suicide is for sure a tragedy but it is a mystery too. The cause goes away with the person and you’ll never really know the reason behind it.
In a busy life, it can be tough to find the time and space to take a step back and look at the bigger picture of a particular project – or even your whole career or life.
Here are a few things to try:
Several times a week, spend 10 – 15 minutes writing or venting in your journal about whatever’s on your mind. This is a great way to Introspect.
For instance, you might head to the local park (or a coffee shop) every Friday evening, so that you can think about the week and about your future plans.
If you’re struggling to get perspective on your own, or if you just want to make faster progress, a psychologist can help you see the bigger picture of your life.
Today, find just five minutes to think deeply about one aspect of your life – perhaps a problem that’s been nagging at you, or a project that you’re struggling with. Write down your thoughts about the bigger picture, and see what comes out of this.
