We all have seen movies and experienced the magical impacts within us in our real lives after we travel to some places. As a person who loves traveling, every journey was a form of mindfulness therapy for me. I still remember every person, food, smell, moments, etc., that I experienced during my journeys still gives me a tingling sensation…Many doctors, including mental health professionals, recommend traveling as a form of therapy. New sights, smells, sounds, and conversations that we experience during traveling can refreshingly stimulate our senses and awaken our inner muse. Although traveling doesn't elevate all the mental health issues, it helps better our physical and psychological health. Travelling can positively impact an individual and bring constructional personality changes in their life.
As we travel from our place to another, it doesn't feel the same. We are experiencing the same sight, smell, taste, and maybe in our own homes. But as we move out, although it might be the same weather conditions, there will be a difference in the rest of the things we are new to. It helps us shift our attention from our daily life stressors and monotonous routines and focus on the new sensations that we experience at our destination. It quickly makes us happier by getting us away from our daily grind. It helps us to feel lighter inside and puts a smile on our faces.
Researchers found that traveling has the power to reduce stress, strain, and anxiety. Even just a short vacation has significant positive and immediate effects on our mental states. Traveling lets us disconnect and recharge from our surroundings. It's essential to take a break from work, academic or life stress to let go of the burden and feel refreshed again. It also reduces our stress and anxiety.
Travelling is one of the best methods for learning apart from recreation. Although we know many things from our books and laptops, learning occurs faster when we experience something. And in traveling, we see and experience different things about the site and its related items through our five senses. Studies have proved that such learning helps in improving our memory and cognition. Through traveling, we learn about a place and different cultures, have time management skills, social skills, get comfortable with uncertainty, and many more.
Traveling is a great way to heal our emotional pain. We often find it challenging to deal with unresolved internal issues and get stuck with them. Travelling gives us a space to introspect about our internal problems. Choosing a calm destination can help us relax and heal ourselves with that entire beautiful silent atmosphere that provides us with a break from all the chaos in our lives.
Travelling gives space for deeper introspection of various incidents in our lives and our inner thoughts and issues. Everyone encounters several problems in their life such as stress, burnout, interpersonal conflict, job stress, confusion regarding academics and career, personal loss, etc. Attending to these issues rather than suppressing them helps us deal with and overcome these issues in a better way. When we get to disconnect ourselves from all the hecticness and spend more time with ourselves, we also get time to take an inside look at our issues and thoughts, which will help us to make better decisions in our lives.
Another blessing of traveling is the pleasant memories that we take with us on the way back home. Travelling gives us a lot of sweet moments to cherish throughout our life which gives us a sense of satisfaction and happiness when thinking about the place at any point in our life. The things we see, the new people we meet, and the various foods we eat all add to our bundle of happiness. It's these bits or significant moments in our life that add more meaning and beauty to it.
Thus, it's never late to pack your bags and take a break from all the chaos going on: ).
And enjoy every tiny little thing and big things that give you joy... :). Have a happy traveling ahead :)
